Sun Protection Accreditation FAQ
Before you sign up you may wish to know a little more about getting Sun Protection Accredited. We have compiled some frequently asked questions below, which you may find useful. If you have problems getting accredited or if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@melanoma-fund.co.uk.
Sun protection is one of the easiest ways to prevent skin cancer, one the most common cancers in the world. By getting the golf industry working together on a national basis, we can create a community that will generate vital awareness to all in the sport.
No. You simply need to pledge to implement a set of simple but effective actions that, when carried out by a growing community of golf clubs, golf tour operators and golf tournament organisers will help create impact on skin cancer prevention.
That is great news, and it should not stop you getting involved. Our resources are up to date, written specifically for golf, and will complement and enhance awareness of your existing work.
We recommend an existing health and safety or marketing advisor or a member of staff (or member) with a keen interest in sun protection or skin cancer. They will be responsible for ensuring the pledges are implemented, benefiting both staff and members.
When getting tournaments or golf tour operators Sun Protection Accredited, we recommend a key organiser to take on the role, however this is your decision.
We have kept the process and actions as simple as possible. We provide all materials in PDF format, which can be downloaded and printed out or if requested, in printed format. You will need to display these digitally and if possible in relevant high footfall areas, to catch the attention of staff and members/visitors.
We can help improve your duty of care strategy and enhance your CSR policies. We will offer you fresh content during summer and in autumn to share with your stakeholders as you wish. We can also provide you with advice on generating publicity to ensure your efforts to benefit the health of your community are recognised and applauded.
As well as having the official backing of nearly every golf organisation in the UK and Ireland, (remove this) plus huge support from the commercial golf industry, we have had hundreds of leading golf clubs getting accredited to the campaign, promoting our message. This status now needs to be updated each year, inspiring effective implementation by all. Why not join them and enhance this expanding community?
We launch the campaign in May; and although you can get registered at any time, we recommend the sooner the better. Sun protection should be promoted until September, whilst the sun is hot enough to burn.
