Skin Checks

Here at the Melanoma Fund we promote awareness of skin health, notably the importance of sun protection and skin checking as these good habits will help prevent problems in later life.

This year we launched the Slip Slap! Swing! sun protection campaign for golf. A new initiative supported by 9 leading golf organisations which aims to ensure that everyone who plays golf, or works in the sport, understands the importance of avoiding a sunburn.

As part of our campaign, which will raise awareness of how any why to stay safe whilst on the course, we are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with five golf clubs in Kent and Sussex to offer free skin checks. We will be working with local surgeons to provide this service as well as providing advice on sun protection from the charity team.

Solar Buddies Sports

We have collaborated with Solar Buddies who have developed a sunscreen applicator for all those in sport, including golfers, who want to avoid the greasy grip associated with using sunscreen. You can fill Solar Buddies Sports with sunscreen of your choice and its patented applicator ensures even coverage without the user having to touch their skin. Better still, The Melanoma Fund receives 10% from every sale helping us reach even people with our messages.

Altruist was formulated by Dr Andrew Birnie, a consultant dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon and ethically motivated altruist, who has teamed up with some of the best formulation scientists in Europe, to produce the finest quality UV protection, for the lowest possible price.
