National School Sport Week – WIN a SUNBURN awareness kit

24.05.22 |   Michelle Baker

The Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code was created in 2014 by the Melanoma Fund to improve the provision of sun protection by coaches, teachers, and outdoor leaders to KS2 children.  Partnered by four major sports organisations and charities, including the Youth Sport Trust, it is supported by hundreds of national governing bodies to help blow the whistle on sunburn!

We are supporting the Youth Sport Trust’s National School Sport Week 2022 this summer, to promote sun safety and offer the opportunity for schools to WIN a very special prize through our own sun safety campaign for sport.

National School Sport Week 2022: Belonging – a place in sport for every child

Schools, families, and communities across the UK are encouraged to sign up for this year’s National School Sport Week and share their commitment to ensuring there is a place for every child on a sports day between 20 and 26 June. Everyone who signs up will receive free resources from the Youth Sport Trust which will help them become changemakers for sport and play.

During the week itself, the Youth Sport Trust is joining forces with Team GB for school visits and running a series of 60-second physical activity challenges to help schools foster a sense of belonging and encourage children to have fun. Stay tuned to its campaign page to find out the latest information.

On their campaign page, you will also find links to the Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code where they are encouraging everyone to keep sun-protected on sports day, as well, as all other outdoor events and activities during the summer, via FREE accreditation to the campaign.  Teachers are also encouraged to get pupils to take the Sun-Sorted! quiz which educates young people on why sun protection is important, in a fun, engaging format.

Get involved and WIN!

Supercharge awareness around sun protection at your school by signing up to the Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code. All schools registering from now until  June 17 will be put into a prize draw to WIN one of 10 ‘SUNBURN awareness kits’ consisting of a SUNBURN mascot, 200 tubes of Sunsense SPF50 sunscreen to be distributed to all attending, and educational leaflets.
