April 2007
The North Pole Marathon is one of my 7 7 70 Challenges: and I want to raise £250,000 from these 'Challenges' to fund research, raise awareness and make diagnosis more readily available
The reasons are all on our Home Page: our Statement of Intent.
The North Pole Marathon is the brainchild of Richard Donovan: the first race was in 2004 and takes place, literally, on a circuit on the ice around the North Pole.
Twelve foot of ice between the runners and the Arctic Ocean.
All the details are on www.npmarathon.com and details of the competitors already registered can be found there.
What else can you do to support us?
Well, we hope that you and your friends will wear our lime green wristbands, produced initially by Leeds United in tribute to and in memory of their Sports Therapist Bruce Craven who died from malignant melanoma at the sadly early age of 32.
These only cost £2 (£2.50 with postage and packing) from Harry Townsend, 6 Manor Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1LR.
Thousands of people already brighten up their gardens each summer with the beautiful bright red, fragrant long stemmed sweet pea Myfanwy Townsend (£1 from me again, £1.50 including postage and packing).
We've got lots of leaflets about the Charity also, which we hope that you will also distribute.
We just need lots of help: and especially for these mega 'Challenges'.
If you can help in any way, please contact me at townsendharry@btinternet.com
