Dear All,

Spring has finally sprung and to celebrate this – and the warmer weather - we are delighted to announce the launch of the Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code. Our ambassador is TV Presenter Julia Bradbury and we have partnered with the Association for Physical Education, sports coach UK and the Youth Sports Trust, to really get the message out there.

This FREE resource bank is designed to ensure that children who attend organised outdoor activities stay safe in the sun and was devised after recognising that no such guidelines exist for those who work with children outdoors.

We have been hard at work generating support from over 30 National Governing Bodies of Sport, outdoor groups and associations who have been promoting the initiative to all their members. Clubs and individuals need to follow a simple code to gain an official Accreditation Mark; verifying that specific sun protection measures have been met. A downloadable toolkit provides promotional materials, designed to keep guidelines active and ensure that good practice is supported by parents.

Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE is also behind the campaign and says ”It’s very easy to think that the weather in this country isn’t hot enough to cause damage, it is. So please make sure that you protect the kids in your care when they are outside playing”.

We believe that targeting children’s attitudes and behaviour at a young age, especially through respected coaches, teachers and leaders, will encourage good habits which will last a lifetime. Visit www.oksunsafetycode.com to find out more!
