We are currently making some positive changes here at the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund; improving our internal structure and reviewing our charitable objectives as we head into 2016. Our aim is not only to future-proof the charity but also to help us to grow and work more effectively, create greater awareness and raise more donations to fund more valuable research.
The Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code
As you will know, in the past few years we have refreshed the charity, created a new logo, new website and launched our initiative, the Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code. If you have kept up with our news page you will know that we've had incredible success with this. We also have some exciting plans for next year; looking to reach even more people. With over 100 national governing bodies of sport, outdoor organisations and groups supporting us, we have the backing to really help us make a difference. But we cannot do this without funds…
Fundraising and Donating
We are now looking to focus in greater depth on the charity and this includes our fundraising potential; as without funds coming in, we're unable to educate on prevention, raise awareness and donate to fund research. We understand that all charities need to work hard to achieve success and that without its supporters this is impossible.
Thanks to the generosity and kindness of some amazing, loyal supporters, we have recently donated £40,000 to melanoma research. The first recipient is Dr Yella Martin and her team at Blonde McIndoe and secondly, the work of Kevin Harrington at The Royal Marsden. We will be providing further details of how these funds are being used to 'help find a cure' on our website shortly.
Unity is Strength
We may be small, but we are passionate about promoting the need for education and prevention and also providing research teams with as much support as we can. When it comes to fighting melanoma we need to be persistent, and as such are highly proactive in getting the message out there – but we need help and we want to hear from you if you feel the same way!
We are looking for a team of active stakeholders. People like YOU who can help us in the fight against melanoma. All you need to do is click HERE and fill in our short questionnaire. It will only take you a few minutes and all responses will be gratefully received. No details will be passed on and we will only contact you if you wish us to do so.
If you want to chat to us personally about becoming more involved with our work, please contact either myself or my colleague Michelle Baker directly; we are always happy to chat and would love to hear from you.
